Immigration Reform/Reforma Migratoria

The Reality Behind Biden’s Plan to Legalize 11 Million Immigrants – The New York Times (nytimes.com)

President Biden has lofty goals for immigration reform. Many are hopeful, many are skeptical, and all of us are waiting to see what actually happens. The last major legalization program, which legalized 3 million undocumented immigrants, occurred when President Ronald Reagan passed the Immigrant Reform and Control Act in 1986. President Biden faces many hurdles, just like President Obama’s administration did. For now, President Biden can start by undoing some of the harsh executive orders put in place by his predecessor and start implementing some of his own. In the meantime, I am hopeful that the tide will start turning in favor of the millions of undocumented who continue to live in the shadows.
